Get Cozy with These Trending Fall Designs
Fall is just around the corner. And this year’s fall home design trends are just as hot as a pumpkin spice latte. This fall, we’re excited to see gorgeous jewel-tone colors, textured layers and accessories, traditional furniture, and sparkly touches. Check out these trending fall designs and inspirations below.
Below are our favorite trends, along with ways you can easily incorporate them into your existing decor.
Peacock Blue
While neutral colors are still popular and appropriate if you’re selling your home, jewel-tone colors are making a statement this fall. Especially, peacock blue.
Peacock blue is a gorgeous blue color, a cross between navy and turquoise. If you’re thinking that painting your walls (or one wall) peacock blue will darken your dining room or living room, well we have good news: By combining peacock blue with colors like millennial pink, lush green, and gold/copper, your room will still read bright and luxurious.
Our tip: Use varying shades of blue throughout your room (like wall colors, vases, plates, cushions, floral arrangements, etc.) to add dimension and depth. Also use other colors like mustard, pink, green, and gold to add additional pops of color.
Incorporate Textured Layers in Your Fall Designs
As the cooler weather arrives, we long for comfortable and welcoming environments. Bundling under blankets while watching movies with your kids and being surrounded by familiar shapes and colors makes us feel cozy on the outside and the inside. And goes perfectly with another fall trend: adding textured, cozy, and comfortable layers to your rooms.
We love this trend because it’s all about homey, warm spaces. By adding textured blankets that are fuzzy or boucle or even the trending woven kind in neutrals or fun colors, soft velvet or mink like pillows, layered fur or animal skin rugs, and other personal touches, your home will feel much warmer even if you don’t touch the thermostat!
Our tip: Try layering rugs like a fur or animal skin rug on top of sisal or solid color rug to add some texture or place fur throws over each of your dining chairs for a lush and cozy house warming party!
Brass, Copper, and Gold
Yup, the warm metallics are still going strong. Everyone likes a little bling or shiny things in their home. This is the trend that just won’t quit, but that’s ok because we love it. This fall, try incorporating some gold, brass, or copper accents into your home design for a rich yet not too opulent look.
These metals will be showing up in all your favorite home decorating stores especially this fall. We are seeing the old standards of stainless steel flatware being replaced with warm-toned metal flatware instead which is totally on-trend this fall. And how about copper as it takes the cake of all the metals because of its chameleonic qualities.
Whatever your taste, here are some great ways to include a touch of any of these metallic colors in your home…
- Picture frames
- Candlesticks
- Coffee tables
- Pulls for dressers/cabinets
- Light fixtures
Black Kitchens
An interesting fall trend is that black is back – well in the kitchen at least. Over the past few seasons, we’ve seen people move away from white and grey to more colorful cabinet styles, like green or blue. Well, now that movement is getting bolder: enter the black kitchen.
The key to a successful black kitchen is to balance the room with white and warm colors. For example, if you decide to go with black cabinets, your walls and backsplash should be white or off-white. Your countertops should also be on the lighter side.
Our tip: Black kitchens aren’t the perfect fit for all kitchens. If you find that your kitchen would be too dark (or the renovations to achieve the look are too expensive), there is another alternative: black furniture. Maybe change up your kitchen island, swap out your kitchen table for a black table, or find stools or chairs with black accents. There are plenty of ways to take advantage of this trend, you just have to get creative.
Traditional Furniture
Traditional furniture is having its moment and we are here for it! This fall, we’re seeing people love the classic sophistication of elegant, antique pieces. These pieces are usually button-tufted, carved wood, claw-footed, and have metallic accents.
Our tip: You don’t have to spend a fortune to get the look. Check our antique shops, yard sales, and consignment shops. Look for pieces that still reflect your personal style so it will fit into your already existing decor.
Even if you can’t do all of these things to your home this fall, we recommend trying to incorporate at least one or two. Redecorating or redesigning your home can give your home a small facelift to make it feel new.
However, if you’re thinking about selling your home, these fall trends will make your home look and feel current and appeal to the growing population of Millennials looking for hip, trendy and move-in ready homes. Prospective homeowners will love the jewel tones sprinkled throughout the house, the fall decor on your porch, and the sparkle from gold picture frames and cabinet pulls. Homes that play up trends are more likely to showcase their features even more, resulting in offers and fewer days on the market.
